Malfouf Eco Bags: even one 1 person can make an impact

Kati started sewing in high school, and always dreamed of having her own collection in a fashion show. The show never happened, but she has had capsule collections where Kati is known for using mainly preloved fabrics. The environmental effects and overconsumption is her motivation to not create items from new fabric.

Kati is a nature lover and spends as much time as possible outside. With a degree in Environment Technology, Kati knows first hand how bad the human effect is on Mother Earth and decided early on that anything she does would have as low an impact as possible.

After coming to Jordan, Kati saw the immense use of plastic bags and decided to do something about it. With a team of ladies, @malfouf_ecobags was born. They sell reusable bags and hopefully saved many single use plastic from reaching the landfill.

Kati believes that each of us has a responsibility, even one 1 person can make an impact: quit single use plastic bags, act more tenderly to the Earth, because when the earth has nothing to give any more, we will not exist either.

My name is Kati Pilter- Mihyar and I am from Estonia, and have been in Jordan for 7 years.

1. What is your most favorite thing about your career?

If I consider coming to Jordan as the beginning of my career, then definitely creativity and freedom of creating things that people love. I have discovered so much about myself during this process.

2. What's the most interesting thing you can see out of your office window?

A tree with different sizes of birds coming and going and the leaves changing throughout the year.

The biggest lesson probably is that I have to be the no. 1 fan of my business. If I believe in what I do, then everything I do for that is much more fun.
